Hi, I'm JessicaPhotographer, designer, writer, baker, crafter. Creative mom of one human + two bulldogs.
I started drawing with my dad as soon as I could hold a crayon. Ever since, the arts have been a huge part of my life. My greatest strength and greatest weakness is that I tend to go wherever my curiosity leads me. Through high school and my undergrad years I consistently held at least 2 (up to 4) jobs at a time. From professional singer and co-director of choirs to sales associate, accounts receivable clerk, software bug-finder, to business owner, I've gained valuable experience from each job and educational program. "Stay in your lane" was the advice I was given by my community. "Just pick one thing." "Focus." And I did. I tried to ignore my other passions to put all my energy into lifestyle photography and I worked clerical jobs to support myself through growing my business. The Master of Arts in Mass Communication program at UF's College of Journalism changed my life. Along with allowing me to add to my tool box, it gave me permission to celebrate my talents, technical skills, and creativity. It helped me see how they could all be used together. On a family trip, a long time ago, my aunt said something that finally sunk in once I earned my masters: artists are so much more than just artists. They are creators, innovators. Sometimes, they're rule-breakers. I was stuck in the mindset that I was just a photographer. But I'm a photographer with spatial reasoning skills I learned in architecture school. A photographer who loves to think deeply about the stories created by moments strung together. A photographer who can design and code websites. A photographer with training and experience in branding. A person who wants to create for and connect with people in myriad ways. Once I realized this, I began working on a plan to bring more of my passions to life. I am constantly growing my lifestyle brand, Memories by JMF. After about 6 years of work on Memories by JMF, I added a second brand focused on wedding photography: Weddings by JMF . Now I'm taking on a new adventure: publishing my first book. If you want to connect, please use the form below to get in touch. Cheers! JMF |
